SCS Team  

The SCS team is multidisciplinary and professionals coming with rich work experience, having varying professional backgrounds. It consists of people with backgrounds in Health, Education, Water & Sanitation, Natural Resource Management, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Project Management, Monitoring, Evaluation, Planning, etc.

The team has wide ranging experience of working in various parts of India in providing consulting and advisory services. SCS has extensive field experience in development projects across various themes, supported by a variety of institutions.

Each assignment is the responsibility of a made-to-order task force (including specialized consultants as required), which is co-coordinated by one of the core team members

1. Sharaf Abbas Khan
Chief Executive and Managing Director

Sharaf Abbas KhanResponsible for formulating and executing the company's overall strategy, Sharaf has been at helm of several key strategic transitions at SCS since 2004 when he took over the role as head of SCS. In his role as Chief Executive, he has been the architect of new organization structure unveiled in 2008, which created multiple agile projects/assignments focusing on development sector as well as built strategic development units in order to pursue new initiatives with the ability to develop and mature new ideas.

Sharaf represents SCS on several global and local forums. Sharaf joined SCS in 2004 after spending a quality time with some of the esteemed organizations like, OXFAM, SAHARA, CARE, DKT, etc. Sharaf has done his Master’s in Social Work from Lucknow University in 1995.

Under his leadership, SCS pioneered partnership with the corporate sector across the country and ventured into new states including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Orissa, Gujarat and Rajasthan. It added new opportunities like ‘Stakeholder Consultation & Impact assessment’ for CDM projects, ‘Adolescent Health Education Program’ for CSR. Sharaf has also driven the diversification drive that has seen the company enter new verticals. All of these have matured into sizeable businesses under his mentorship and guidance.

Sharaf personifies SCS’ commitment to client/partner satisfaction and high quality of deliverables. Through his experience in a variety of operating roles across SCS, he has built a reputation in the Development sector for his exceptional ability to identify and build new opportunities and nurture long-term relationships. He has also been a throughout performer during his stints with renowned development sector organizations. Sharaf has been positioned in several states of the country during this time and also travelled to European and South East Asian countries for job requirements.

Beyond the office, Sharaf is a committed human being, ready to help and assist anyone and everyone. Born in 1972, Sharaf currently lives in Lucknow.

2. Ratna Khare
Director Communication and Advocacy

Ratna KhareA post-graduate in Social Work with 15 years’ experience in Program Planning and Management, Project Management and General Administration with International NGOs and Community Based Voluntary Organizations, including consultancy experience with organizations engaged in providing community development services. Significant experience in handling and managing projects on Micro finance, Women empowerment, Reproductive Child Health, Adolescent Girls’ family life education and Disaster management Effective networking and relationship management with government / non-government organizations, PRIs and other regulatory authorities for promoting various awareness programmes.

Ratna Has been undertaking overall risk analysis of projects based on assessment of financial and partner delivery capacity, analyzing aims, objectives and outcome of projects to resource, negotiate & freeze contracts. She also assists state level project management team in all the aspects of NGO partnership and in developing and implementation of behaviour change communication strategy. Ratna is good at ensuring quality delivery of client-funded projects involving in depth impact analysis of tasks. She extends support and mentor team members to execute project tasks.

Ratna’s Core competence include Capacity building of different social groups and developing target specific learning material, Strengthening institutions of local self-governance (PRIs and ULB), capacity building of NGOs along with linkages with media and government

Ratna has been associated with some of the prominent social sector organizations including an 8 years stint with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) prior to joining board of directors of SCS in 2007. During her association with CRS, Ratna never hesitated in travelling to the remotest project areas and when given an opportunity, twice visited and stayed for a long period of time in war torn areas of Afghanistan. 

She has conducted Training needs assessment at the district level for Women empowerment, Livelihood, RCH, SHGs& Micro Finance. Ratna has also conducted sessions on Gender, Motivation, Networking and Sustainability in the context of Reproductive and Child Health.

A keen and enthusiastic communicator with strong leadership and co-ordination skills Flair for interacting with people at all (social and organizational) levels have worked in several states of India.

3. Akhilesh Srivastava
Programme Manager

Akhilesh SrivastavaQualified MBA and accomplished professional in strategic planning and new business initiatives, eighteen years of experience in pharma sales / social marketing and social development sector, including familiarity with the introduction of new products / programs / project and creating the sustainable demands for them. Creating innovative solutions, building and leading teams towards service excellence. A keen and enthusiastic communicator with strong leadership and co-ordination skills. He has responsible for programme management, planning, implementation & monitoring; management & capacity building of programme team, stakeholders and brand building. He has experience in management of MIS, Monitoring & Evaluation, HR & financial process; liasoning and coordination with internal and external stakeholders; as programme manager responsible for mid-term and end line evaluation of the project, report and financial management of the project. He has Flair for interacting with people at all social and organisational level.

Akhilesh has done bachelor in science and bachelor in Law from Lucknow University and Management in marketing and rural development from National Institute of Management.

Akhilesh has been worked with renowned organisation like ZYDUS CADILA, ALEMBIC, HELIOS and TARA in several state of India including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar and Jharkhand.

4. Shweta Chaudhary

A post graduate in Psychology having 5 years of post qualification work experience, Shweta has the unique quality of multitasking, whereas she handles different programs being operational at the ground level and specifically supports in Supportive supervision of Field based implementing agencies and individuals, liaison with various government departments at the state level. She also contributes in Resource mobilization for the organization. She hasbeen providing Capacity Building support to the Volunteers of the 'Adolescent School Girls Health Education Program', which is duly supported by Johnson & Johnson.

5. Dr. Manju Dubey

She comes with an academic background in women’s education and rich professional experience spanning two decades. She has worked extensively with NGOs, CBOs, Donors and government departments on projects related with women’s empowerment, girls education, RCH, Self help, Gender and PRIs. Her expertise lies in participatory planning & appraisal, educational research, participatory training and preparation of resource material for capacity building interventions

6. G. Javed Rasool

One of our senior most consultants, Javed comes with a strong background in sociology, development, rural technology, natural resource management and water & sanitation. Having worked in programmes supported by organisations such as Overseas Development Institute, DFID, CRS, Action Aid, OXFAM, CASA & IWMI; he has contributed to functional areas like Concurrent Monitoring, Evaluation, Impact assessment, Review and programme planning. He has worked closely with the Poorest Areas Civil Society Programme across 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh on M&E and project management.  

7. Priyangbada Mandal

Mandal has a strong background in Economics and Public Systems management, complemented by intense exposure to rural development programmes and projects. He has worked as the state M&E coordinator of the DFID supported Poorest Areas Civil Society (PACS) Programme in Bihar and has excellent credentials in MIS design, M&E system development and installation, troubleshooting in MIS based M&E systems and analysis. He is interested in community based livelihood programmes including agricultural and non agricultural interventions. Over the last 9 years of work. He has been involved in several assignments related with monitoring, evaluation, impact assessment and review. He has worked closely with state governments in UP & MP, DFID, DFID, CARE & OXFAM.

8. Shafqat Hussain

A post graduate in Applied Economics and working experience of more than 5 years with community based development organizations and some of the renowned development organizations. His key areas of expertise include project designing, liaisoning & networking with government, research, participatory management and evaluation, training and capacity building, and process documentation. His current inclination is in participative planning and governance reforms.
